A family farm on the Skagit River outside of La Conner, Washington
Our Story
In 2021 Tim and Kelly Baker purchased the 140-year-old Anderson farm to support their restaurant San Fermo and fulfill a vision for a sustainable relationship with land, food, and family. The property was renamed Swan House Farm after the iconic cottage built for Swann Olsen in the 1880s. Frederick Anderson built the house for Swann and made him a permanent member of his family after the two survived a mining accident together. Reportedly Swann saved Frederick’s life, so the favor was returned.
Today they operate the farm with their two younger sons and daughter in law. The family spends their days tending the garden, caring for the animals and mending fences. Each year they plan garden and livestock projects with their eldest son Sam the Chef at San Fermo to focus on products he wants to feature on the restaurant menu or for farm dinners in Skagit.
